Oxygen Traps
![]() |
Oxygen is a leading cause of stationary phase degradation, which appears in chromatograms as bleed. The indicating material is a proprietary inorganic which turns from bright green to gray in the presence or oxgen. Our oxygen traps are intended for use with the common non-oxidizing gases (He, H2, N2, Ar, CH4). |
Model 1000 Oxygen Trap
High capacity oxygen trap, for long term protection of capillary column stationary phases against oxidation at GC operating temperatures. It is also recommended for packed column carrier gases. The Model 1000 has a capacity of 2.5 liters of oxygen at room temperature. It is also effective for removing sulfur compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans. The Model 1000 is intended for use with non-oxidizing gases such as He, Ar, N2, H2 or CH4, containing less than 1% oxygen. It will remove oxygen to below 70 ppb from these gases at flow rates normally encountered in GC operation. The Model 1000 oxygen trap is a high-pressure metal cylinder filled with 500 cc of active oxygen adsorbent. The adsorbent binds covalently with oxygen; no gas is generated from this reaction. It is delivered in the active state, filled with high-purity helium. It is ready for use, but we recommend that the trap be purged with the gas you will be using. Maximum flow rate for nominal pressure drop is 1 liter/min; maximum pressure 1000 psig. Approximate dimensions: 2'' x 14'' including fittings. Weight 3 pounds. Regeneration: The Model 1000 may be regenerated numerous times using high-temperature treatment with hydrogen; instructions are included. Note that sulfur compounds permanently poison the adsorbent.

ZPure Glass Indicating Oxygen Trap
An improved, compact indicating filter for high-efficiency oxygen removal, suitable for use with chromatography carrier gas streams. It removes oxygen to low-ppb levels, with an indicator that changes color from green to gray when adsorption capacity is depleted. The adsorbent forms copper oxide in the presence of oxygen; no gas is generated.
The ZPure Glass Indicating Oxygen Trap is recommended as a downstream indicator for high-capacity traps such as the ZPure Dual or ZPure Oxygen. It can be used with non-oxidizing gases such as He, Ar, N2, H2 or CH4. The adsorbents are held in a heavy-walled inner glass tube, shielded by an outer clear plastic tube for increased safety. Gas lines are protected from dust by 10μ frits at both ends of the filter. Maximum pressure is 6.8 bar (100 psig). Approximate dimensions are 3.5 cm x 26 cm including fittings. It comes with either 1/4” or 1/8” compression fittings.
